On Monday, Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, vowed to provide Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s presidential candidate, with logistical support for his campaign in Rivers State.

Kwankwaso is a friend and a man of integrity, according to Wike, who invited him to open the Mgbutanwo Internal Roads in the state’s Emohua Local Government Area.

Last Thursday, Ayekooto had previously claimed that Wike had also promised to assist Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, with logistics for his campaign in the state after praising Obi as a guy with all the qualities needed to lead Nigeria.

Wike added that Kwankwaso, a former PDP member, was one of the few persons he had met not to leave the party because he knew he was an asset to the PDP, especially in Kano State.

“I remember when I went to meet you in your Abuja home to beg you not to leave the party (PDP) because I thought you were a valuable asset to the party,” he recalled. I refused to leave you alone, even when they told me to.

I want to say that whenever you want to campaign in Rivers State, I will provide you with all of your logistics; just let me know when you want to come. I’ve known you and I know you are a man of integrity.

On the project, Wike bragged that the road construction began in June 2021 and was finished four months ago. He also said that he would be commissioning more projects soon.

“We just put the ninth flyover into service last week, and we’ll put the 10th into service before the year is over. Next year, we’ll also put the 11th and 12th flyovers into service.

“I promised to turn Emuoha around; did I not do that? To build this road, I hired Nigeria’s top construction business.

The PDP has been in crisis for months as Wike and the G5 governors have demanded Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, resign. They claim northerners shouldn’t serve as both the national chairman and a presidential candidate.
