Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as FIFA president

In a statement issued on Thursday, FIFA declared that there would be just one contender for the presidency next year.

Gianni Infantino, the current FIFA president, will run unopposed for re-election to a third term in office.

In February 2016, the 52-year-old succeeded Sepp Blatter as the head of football’s governing body. He was re-elected in 2019.

In a statement issued on Thursday, FIFA declared that there would be just one contender for the presidency in 2019.

Following the FIFA Council’s call for candidates on March 30, 2022, FIFA’s member associations have timely and properly proposed the following candidate for the presidency to be decided at the 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda, on March 16, 2023.
