Shehu Sani: The bombing of a community in Kaduna was not an accident.

Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, has accused the Nigerian Army of committing a grave act of negligence in the recent bombing of a crowd celebrating Maulud in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Nigerian Army claimed that the shelling was accidental and targeted at bandits. Sani emphasized the need for the public to understand the context of security issues in Kaduna, where almost 70% of the state has been battling cases of banditry and terrorist attacks.

Sani cited Southern Kaduna as a well-known case of attacks by bandits and their unholy activities. In the central part of Kaduna, including Birnin Gwari, Igabi, and Giwa local governments, there has been a history of serious attacks, with no arrests or neutralizations of terrorists.

He argued that the bombing at Tudun Biri could be considered serious negligence, as crowds of people were celebrating within the village.

Sani also highlighted the lack of law permitting the army to go after bandits as long as they have crossed over to a civilian area. He argued that this wouldn’t have happened if the army had been cautious and worked with intelligence.

He also noted that videos of terrorists moving on motorcycles in Niger State, Katsina State, and Zamfara State have shown them moving without attacks launched on them.

Sani emphasized the need for the government to show no mercy specifically targeted at terrorists’ heads, as they continue to operate freely. He questioned how the military differs from bandits and how they differ from terrorists.
