AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic still has coronavirus, 14 days after his first positive test.
The 39-year-old first tested positive on September 24, prompting him to tweet: “I tested negative for Covid yesterday and positive
today.
“No symptoms whatsoever. The Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea.”
Reports in Italy has it that, in the club’s latest round of testing this week, AC Milan’s players returned negative tests apart fro defender Leo Duarte and Ibrahimovic, who are still positive.
The Milan derby takes place on October 17, when the Serie A season resumes following the international break.
Meanwhile, four players at Inter Milan Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, Radja Nainggolan and Roberto Gagliardini – have recently returned positive swabs ahead of the derby.
Two players in Italy’s Under-21 squad have also tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of their game away to Iceland, the Italian football federation (FIGC) has confirmed.
The FIGC said that one member of staff also returned in a positive result in the latest tests which were carried out at the airport on Thursday before the squad left for Reykjavik and a European Under-21 Championship Qualifier.
The players names have not been mentioned, although Inter stated one of them was their defender Bastoni.
