Youth are the main population of any community, society, or gathering. They can be tools or treasure at any time, no matter how valuable they are.Knowing well that politics is a key factor in human life, it is important to know and understand that the youth are the most valuable factor in the political arena.
Youths are more used as tools than they are treasured in most political circles. The youths play major roles before, between, and beyond electoral processes. These roles determine not only the future of the community but also the future of the youths in the community.
When you have electoral activities set to start, the youth play major roles in carrying them out, such as: printing, data collection, electoral materials sourcing, voter orientation, voting, vote counting, and so on. Yet, when youths are paid more often to do these activities, it does not mean that they see it as part of their civic responsibilities. They have become a tool and not a treasure.
Going forward, youths’ roles in politics must be cherished with futuristic engagement such as parliamentary roles, decision-making activities, and the whole process of execution. Youth must be seen as the next generation prepared to take the lead, rather than taking the lead and deciding their future by those who won’t likely live in that future.
The youth are going to fail in a future they are not prepared to feature. You can’t make a decision for a child until he/she reaches adulthood. He will end up as a failed adult. Allow the youths to take the lead while the more experienced older generation mentors them while they are still alive.No generation of youth is failed when the baton is passed to them by accountable leadership to see them through.
It is unfortunate that most societies are endowed with incapable leaders and ignorant followers, and this is the reason for the consistency of slavery in politics. Youth will always be a tool for the established political gladiators until they are ready to paddle their ship with synergy, sincirty, and solution-driven movement.
Youth are a wonderful asset to any community, and they determine the future of society as a whole. If you refuse to give them the right to lead, your actions will lead them to take your right to peace. If we are to grow and shine, we must discover and develop our youth as a treasure.
