Wizkid discusses losing his mother and how much it hurts.

Afrobeats sensation Ayo Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, recently expressed the depth of pain he feels following the loss of his mother. He revealed that her death had left him feeling lost and described it as the most profound pain he had ever felt. Wizkid made this statement during his mother’s wake-keep ceremony, which was held on Thursday. The ceremony was held in honor of Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away on August 18, 2023, in London.

A candlelight procession was held on Wednesday to celebrate the life of Wizkid’s mother. The singer was present at the event, marking his first public appearance in nearly a month. He had taken a period of silence to grieve the loss of his mother.

Wizkid grew up in Surulere , Lagos, in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. His mother was a formidable pillar of strength who supported her son’s meteoric rise in the music industry. In 2014, Wizkid dedicated a song titled ‘Mummy Mi’ to mothers worldwide. He praised his mother, Jane, for all the joy she brought him and promised to spoil her with the finest things in life.

The pain of losing his mother has left Wizkid feeling deeply hurt. He prays that God will comfort him and everyone who knew his mother during this difficult time.
