Wayne Rooney revealed he has been warned by the English Football Association after he revealed he wanted to try and injure an opposition player during Manchester United’s match against Chelsea in April 2006.

After an interview published in the Mail on Sunday earlier this month, in which the former England international admitted he planned to try to damage an opposition player during Manchester United’s encounter against Chelsea in April 2006, the FA sought views from Derby’s boss Rooney.

Rooney said the regulatory body had asked him for his thoughts on the statements and that he had responded, adding that they had warned him about his future behavior. As far as the Derby manager is concerned, the situation is now closed.

“I submitted my response to the FA, they’ve given me a warning and that’s it, the matter’s been put to bed so we can go on from that,” Rooney said before of Peterborough’s Championship visit to Pride Park.

“It is what it is,” says the narrator. It was reported to the FA, and they had to look into it. I was given a warning. That’s all there is to it; now we can go on. “The problem is now closed, and I am satisfied.”

The challenge with John Terry at Stamford Bridge in 2006, according to Rooney, was “a fair 50-50.”

Rooney revealed in an interview with the Mail on Sunday that he changed his studs to “long mental ones” ahead of the encounter at Stamford Bridge to “hurt someone.”
