The OAU will host the West African Universities Games in 2023.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has said, that the university is on track to host the 2023 West African Universities Games (WAUG).
Abiodun Olanrewaju, the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), stated this in a statement on Thursday.
“It will involve sports contingents from universities in the West African sub-region and participants will compete for medals in sports such as tennis, table tennis, basketball and athletics, and many more,” he added.
Olanrewaju also stated that the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will be the main guest of honor during the games’ opening and closing ceremonies.
“The closing ceremony will come up on 22 December,” he went on to say.
WAUG, also known as the ECOWAS Students Games, is a multi-sport competition involving West African university student-athletes.
