Shehu Sani, a former federal legislator, said on Tuesday that terrorists who assaulted passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna rail lines kidnapped a “white man” and killed several others.
He further claimed that the attackers targeted the train’s Business Class coach.
Terrorists bombed the Abuja-Kaduna rail lines on Monday night, attacking a train carrying passengers, according to the PUNCH.
In the aftermath of the attacks, the Nigerian Railway Corporation stated on Tuesday that train operations along the Abuja-Kaduna route will be suspended indefinitely.
The train attack came after around 200 terrorists raided the Kaduna International Airport in Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State on Saturday, interrupting operations and murdering one Nigerian Airspace Management Agency security employee.
The attack reportedly sparked panic at the airport and forced the cancellation of a Lagos-bound AZMAN flight set to depart at 12:30 p.m.
However, Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, stated in a series of tweets on Tuesday that the attackers targeted the train’s Business Class coach.
He wrote, “I just spoke with a survivor who is a civil servant working with a public Library,She narrated that the terrorists specifically targeted the Business Class coach. They kidnapped some persons including a “white man” & killed those who resisted while she pretended to be dead.
“Many times the bandits try to use their herd of cattle to stop the trains but they are usually crushed and then they resort to using of explosives. The train was attacked in the very spot it was attacked last October. Passengers of 5 coaches were taken as hostages.”
