Parents and guardians are advised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board not to enrol their minor children in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, issued the warning in response to a lawsuit brought by Mrs. Ifeanyi Eke against the Board for sending improper texts to her 15-year-old daughter during the registration process.
Oloyede, however, responded to the event by saying that the Board was prepared to meet with the woman while adamantly stating that the message’s author was not a member of the Board’s personnel.
According to the Registrar, JAMB reported the event to security agencies so they could take the proper measures, but the mother didn’t care and sued for N100 million at the child’s expense.
“The person is not our staff; he is not even a staff member of the center; he is a fellow student,” he declared. He is comparable to a candidate, an undergraduate in a university.
Regarding our data, it is not accessible to anybody. The information was obtained from the minor girl’s phone.
“How did your fifteen-year-old daughter prepare for college now? if she follows the law as she stated. According to current law, you have to attend elementary school for six years, secondary school for six years, and preparatory school for six years. By then, you’ll be eighteen.
“Yet in order to prepare a fifteen-year-old child for a university education, you must have made compromises when you reduce three years.”
“We’re going to meet with her in court, and the judge will determine whether or not she deserves that money.”
The head of JAMB insisted that the victim’s phone number was obtained at the center since there was paperwork to complete. The center had been handled properly, according to the boss, because it wasn’t supposed to have unauthorized people on the property.
We dealt with the center’s irresponsibility in granting unauthorized individuals access to the whereabouts of these candidates. Additionally, we advise parents to wait till their kids are mature enough to register for the UTME.
He went on, “The person must have obtained the number while dealing with her at the center, even if the facilities do not have access to our information.
We are now announcing that any center that permits a parent to approach the area where the candidates are being vetted will be eliminated.
“Secondly, we will take appropriate action against the candidates and have directed the centers to cease identifying the parents of the candidates.”
“Parents’ emotions and lack of discipline cannot ruin their children’s careers.”
