Police have sealed off the palace of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk as a result of the monarch’s failure to prevent congestion in the palace.

A source who pleaded anonymity stated that the emir assembled over 1,000 people in his palace where he distributed food to them.

It should be noted that Daura was the town where the first case of coronavirus wasrecorded and it gradually spread from there to other local government areas of the state.

Confirming this development, the police image maker, SP Isa Gambo told newsmen in Katsina on Monday that the police decided to act on the directives of the state governor, Aminu Masari.

According to him, the state COVID-19 committee had carried out their own investigation and conveyed their findings to the governor.

“Don’t forget the first victim of coronavirus in Katsina was traced to Daura,” he declared.

As at the time of filing this report, the state government has not come out with an official statement.

However, a member of the committee who pleaded for anonymity maintained that it was resolved by the committee that tests must be carried out on those living in the palace.
