Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he could make a decision on his future at the end of the season but made it clear he would never “betray” the club.

The Spanish manager took over in 2016, has a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Guardiola told reporters ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match at Southampton, “I’m not good enough to think far away.”

“It’s always about the results for me.” So, we’ll play Southampton, have a break, and see what happens at the end of the season.

“They’ve given me everything, so I can’t betray them or harm them in any way.”

Guardiola is looking to win City’s fourth league title in five years, as well as four League Cups and the FA Cup during his tenure as manager. After 22 games, they lead the Premier League by 11 points.

“We made decisions together to come here and to extend the contract twice, and it will continue to be the same now,” he added. “It depends on how people perceive me and how I perceive myself in the club.”

“I’m in a pleasant mood and feel at ease.” I’m pretty sure I’ll quit if I’m not feeling enthusiastic and a little exhausted or fatigued. But I’m in a terrific mood right now.”
