Patrick Vieira believes it is critical for players to keep taking the knee after those in the Premier League decided to limit when they take the anti-racism stance this season.

One of the games that will still feature the gesture is Friday night’s Premier League opener between Vieira’s Palace team and Arsenal; more occurrences are expected for the FA and Carabao Cup finals and particular No Room for Racism fixtures.

The Palace manager insisted that those were essential to making sure the message was still understood.

He said, “It’s excellent to keep taking the knee.” I believe there will be a few instances where this initiative will be used.

“I think it’s good that we can’t immediately stop it because there is a statement to be made, and I think it’s vital to keep bending the knee,” the speaker said.

“We all care about [ending] discrimination, therefore this is the battle we will fight for a long time, and I think we still need to take the knee,” one person said.

Wilfried Zaha was the first Premier League player to quit kneeling prior to games last year.

Despite a summer of arrivals that included goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, midfielder Cheick Doucoure, winger Malcolm Ebiowei, and American defender Chris Richards, Vieira acknowledged that his team was still looking “quite a bit short on numbers.”

Meanwhile, Michael Olise is still a few weeks away and James McArthur, James Tomkins, and Michael Olise are all out for the first game of the season because of lingering injuries.

In order to develop the squad and progress as a club, Vieira remarked, “It’s crucial to maintain stability. A few guys come on, and that will provide us with new problems.” We want the players to make it challenging for me to select the starting XI. Despite having less people than previous year, I think we can still be more competitive this year.

It will be crucial for us to get off to the best possible start in the game tomorrow.

Vieira hopes to recapture the thrill of the team’s 3-0 triumph over his previous team at Selhurst Park last season, and he thinks that starting the season at home under the daunting Friday night lights may give his young team an extra spark at the start of the game.

“[Arsenal] are in a better place than last year,” he declared. They are now considerably stronger thanks to the new players. They have the team to compete and get closer to winning the championship.

“Playing at home is very crucial, and last year, it was quite successful since we had a great home record.”

It’s advantageous to play the first game at home, and I’m definitely looking forward to it. The audience is anticipating our performance, and we are equally as eager to start the season strong.
