Oyo APC sets fresh primary dates for the LG election.

By: Peace Adisa

Prior to the next local government election in the State, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chapter in Oyo State has set revised dates for its primary poll.

According to a source, the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) scheduled April next year for the local government election.

The APC announced a minor change to the primary calendar on Wednesday that will affect all candidates for chairmanship and council seats.

The primary was essential due to numerous indications of interest, the party claimed in a statement released on Wednesday.

Olawale Sadare, the party’s publicity secretary, announced in a statement that the primary that had been set for this Thursday will instead take place on Friday, August 25 and Monday, August 28, instead.

The party primary schedule will now be divided into two parts, and we have chosen this Friday to conduct the exercise in all of the Wards and Local Government Areas in both the Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial districts, while the turn of the 99 Wards and nine local government councils in Oyo South will be on Monday next week.

“Reports submitted by the screening committees established that we have competent aspirants in all of the 351 Wards and 33 LGAs; this indicates that APC remains the most popular party in the State,” he stated.
