The Oke Ogun Polytechnic,Saki students shutdown school gate, demonstrating at the school gate and demanding for reopening of school portal that has been closed by the management.
The students who converge at school gate as early as 6am did not allow anybody to enter the school as they’re agitating for reopening of school portal in other to ease registration for those that are yet to pay their school fees.Students who carries placard with the inscription “Say No to Portal closure” ” we say No to increment of school fees ” and the likes barricade school gate.
A concerned students who don’t want us identity to be known said ” the management of the school see the students as ATM, we all know what’s going on in the world ( COVID-19) and it has distrupt a lot of businesses which affect our parents and even the government, is this the time that the school supposed to close the portal, we say no to school fees increment” he concluded.
Another student who speaks on anonymity said ” apart from the closure of school portal, the facility of health center in the school is worrisome as it’s nothing to write home about, as we all know that health is wealth, we urge the management of the school to find lasting solution to it or is it because their children’s are not schooling here”
In the meeting held with the chairman governing council Prof. Sola Ajayi, Acting Rector of the school, Acting Registrar, director of health facilities other members of the management and the Executives of the Students Union resolved that the portal of the school shall be reopen till the eve of the examination day and also the disobedience fee being paid by the Students will be refunded to them within two weeks.
The meeting resolved to repair the student union bus in due time and also the program of entrepreneurship without commensurate services and certificates shall be looked into by the management to ensure enough exposure and adequate training.
The meeting also resolved to looked furthered into utilization of NHIS and medical fees being paid by Students with a view to commensurate services and if need be, to be, a review.
