Ogun State Government has now officially banned waste cart pushers from operating in the State.
The government said security reports had indicted the waste cart pushers of disguising under the act of cart pushing to perpetrate crimes across the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority, Ola Oresanya, disclosed this in a statement released in Abeokuta.
“Our people innocently opened their premises and commercial outlets to them for evacuation of their waste but these cart pushers, who are mostly foreigners, collate vital information on how to compromise the security of their premises and forward those information to the men of the underworld and sometimes join them to rob and terrorize our people.” Oresanya explained.
The aide to the Governor of the state also added that the cart pushers also defaced the aesthetic of the state by their indiscriminate dumping of refuse on medians and unauthorised places causing land and water pollution which will in turn create a bad outlook for the State.
Oresanya called on the residents of the state to patronize only waste PSP operators for prompt, effective and well organised services.
In view of this new directives, law enforcement agents will be directed to arrest anyone found violating the directives of the State government. Cart pushers within the state have also be warned to desist from the act of cart pushers as anyone caught violating the already laid down directives would be made to face the law.
