Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will go head-to-head with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Manuel Neuer later this month in a bid to be named FIFA’s Best Men’s Goalkeeper for 2021.

The trio are all up for the top keeper award at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021, with Bayern Munich keeper Neuer looking to retain the title he claimed in 2020.

The Senegalese goalkeeper and Donnarumma have both never been shortlisted for the award, but the Chelsea and PSG goalkeepers respectively both enjoyed brilliant years in 2021.

Chelsea’s Mendy won the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup, while finishing runner-up in the FA Cup as well.

Donnarumma, meanwhile, moved to Paris Saint-Germain from AC Milan and had an incredible summer with Italy at the Euros, beating England to lift the trophy at Wembley.

The nominations for the women’s award have also been revealed ahead of the virtual ceremony in Zurich on January 17, with Chelsea’s Ann-Katrin Berger hoping to make it a double for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Lyon’s Christiane Endler and PSG’s Stephanie Lynn Marie Labbe are the other two candidates for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, looking to scoop the prize that Sarah Bouhaddi won in 2020.

The two awards – in both the men’s and women’s categories are voted for by an international jury comprised of national team managers, captains of national teams, and one specialist journalist from each territory registered on FIFA.com.

On Tuesday, the three finalists for the Puskas Best Goal award were revealed, with Erik Lamela, Patrik Schick and Mehdi Taremi all up for the title.

Meanwhile, later this week the shortlist for Best Men’s Player and Best Women’s Player among others will also be revealed.
