Without a doubt, we are all grateful for the new year, yet we must ask ourselves if we are driving towards destruction or development. Since the political space is so tense and busy with politics and individual lifestyles, menace now has the freedom to operate without a check of morality in every area of our lives as a people and a nation.
As everyone is out for a kill, we have lost our values for vanities. Kindness is now a mystery in our society, and menace is more treasured than morals. Rat races have become the supreme order of the day as the old generation are feasting on the people. The people are feasting on crime while crime has become so normal without a check.
I believe that the generations to come will lose their heritage completely if we refuse to restore morals earnestly in our communities. Youths have lost it all to various channels of crime and the older generations refused to right the wrongs with their political will.
We have lost touch with true Africanism all in the name of civilization, while the civilized world is more Africana than us. If as Nigerians, we refuse to wake up from our slumber and retrace our steps, the world will never take the African race seriously and to get started, we must restore morals, else the growing menace will consume us all.
In all, I wish us a gracious year ahead and pray that we discover the value in morals before immorality consumes our communities and cultures.
