Liverpool could either play their Champions League match against RB Leipzig at the Puskas Arena in Budapest or at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to reports in Germany.

The first leg of the tie has had to be altered because of travel restrictions due to coronavirus.

RB Leipzig’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has confirmed the decision between the two possible locations will be made on Monday, with the match currently scheduled for February 16.

Germany banned travel from countries affected by virus mutations until at least February 17.

Officials in Germany have insisted Liverpool will not be afforded special treatment – with exceptions to the crackdown only applying to German citizens or residents.

UEFA made contingency plans at the beginning of the campaign to find ‘safe’ venues, should something like this happen, and the Puskas Arena in Budapest has been designated as the stadium that will stage the clash.

However, Leipzig were also able to make contact with stadiums in England, with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now a possible venue.

Germany’s border restrictions may also affect Manchester City’s trip to face Borussia Monchengladbach on February 24 should the ban be extended.

UEFA have signalled they will be open to delaying fixtures currently affected by travel restrictions across the globe.

The latest possible date to finish last-16 games has been set on April 2, it was revealed on Tuesday.
