In honor of an invitation directed to President Muhammadu Buhari , he has been scheduled to address a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

The development was disclosed by the Personal Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, via her verified Twitter handle, @Laurestar, on Monday.

The President is expected to brief the federal legislators on efforts by his government to address the sundry security challenges besetting the country.

In the tweet, “President @MBuhari will address a joint session of the National Assembly (@nassnigeria) on Thursday, December 10, 2020.”

Specifically, the House of Representatives had last week Tuesday invited the President to appear on the floor of the Nigerian parliament to address the rising spate of insecurity in the nation.

This was sequel to a motion of urgent national importance brought by the Borno State caucus over last weekend’s killing of farmers in the state.

The Senate had also in a separate resolution requested the President to dismiss his service chiefs.

Recall that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, was in the State House last week to brief the President about the invitation extended to him by the House of Representatives.
