India is now the second-largest maker of mobile phones in the world, surpassing Vietnam. India is anticipated to draw investments of Rs 44,265 crore between 2016 and 2022 in the smartphone manufacturing industry. China is now the world’s biggest producer of mobile phones.

According to a new analysis released on Monday, local mobile phone shipments under the “Make in India” program exceeded 2 billion total units throughout the period of 2014 to 2022, achieving a 23% CAGR. The “Made in India” service report from market research firm Counterpoint Research claims that this is due to strong domestic demand, rising digital literacy, and government initiatives. India is now the second-largest producer of mobile phones in the world.

The business, which is also the biggest producer of contract electronics in the world, outperformed analysts’ expectations, albeit its net profit for the April-June quarter dropped to $1 billion.
