The Flamingos made sure they didn’t leave India empty-handed by beating Germany to a bronze medal.

The Nigerian team should have won in regulation time, but instead they gave up a 3-0 lead and allowed the European champions to tie the game in the final minute.

In the 20th minute, Nigeria’s Opeyemi Ajakaiye scored the game’s first goal, giving the Flamingoes a comfortable 1-0 lead at the break.

After Etim Edidong made it 3-0 for the African nation in the 63rd minute, Aminat Bello extended Nigeria’s advantage in the 48th minute.

Ten minutes later, Tella Viet started the Germans’ comeback, and two quick goals from Platinier Paulina and Loreen Bender made it 3-3.

Flamingoes ultimately prevailed 3-2 in the penalty shootout to win the game and the bronze medal.
