#EndBadGovernmentInNigeria: Katsina announces a 24-hour curfew in Dutsinma LG.

A statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq, on Friday explained that the development became necessary as the nationwide protest which began on Thursday turned violent in some parts of the state.
The Katsina State Police Command has started enforcing a directive by the state government imposing a 24-hour curfew on the Dutsinma Local Government Area and a 7 pm to 7 am restriction of movement in the remaining 33 local government areas.
No one was killed during Thursday’s protest, but the police detained about 50 criminals in connection with the destruction and looting of government and public property. He claimed that the 24-hour curfew in the Dutsinma Local Government Area was necessary to ensure public safety and prevent further escalation of violence, vandalism, and looting of public and private properties. The rest of the state’s curfew, which runs from 7 pm to 7 am, is intended to prevent nocturnal criminal activities and maintain law and order throughout the state.
Additionally, Sadiq stated, “We call on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards to desist from engaging in acts that may contravene the law, including but not limited to violent protests, vandalism, and looting of public or private properties.”Furthermore, we encourage youths to display restraint and avoid being used as tools to propagate violence.
“The command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, will be conducting regular patrols to ensure total compliance with the curfew, as anyone found violating the curfew will be dealt with decisively.”We urge the general population to cooperate with security officials and remain indoors during the curfew hours. Let us all strive together to keep our state peaceful and orderly.
