N’Golo Kante suffered a minor hamstring injury while on international duty with France on Wednesday.
The French midfielder tweaked his muscle in the later stages of France 1-1 draw with Ukraine at the Stade de France.
Subsequently, Kante has been ruled out of ‘Les Blues’ next two World Cup qualifiers due to the injury and he has sent back to Cobham ground.
France confirmed the status of Kante’s injury, claiming scans showed a ‘small lesion’ in the muscle.
Following the ‘clinical and radiological examination’, Kante was sent home to undergo treatment at Chelsea.
The official statement on the French Football Federation website read: ‘N’Golo Kante will not take part in the next two matches of the French team on Sunday in Kazakhstan and three days later in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
‘In consultation with Doctor Franck Le Gall, national coach Didier Deschamps has decided to put N’Golo Kante back at the disposal of his club tomorrow.
‘N’Golo Kante will not be replaced. It is therefore a group of twenty-five players who will fly to Kazakhstan tomorrow morning.’ And he could be ruled out of action for Chelsea.
Such news will leave Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel sweating as the Blues head into a crucial run of domestic and European fixtures.
Chelsea are back in action when the Premier League resumes again on April 3.
They also face Porto just four days later in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
