The suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari has been arrested, according to The Nation.
He was arrested on Monday, along with four others for alleged illicit drug connections.
The arrest came few hours following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest on suspicion of drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
He’s also the subject of a police inquiry after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States of America charged him with fraud in the case of Instagram celebrity Ramon Abbas, popular called Hushpuppi.
The report was probed by a special panel appointed by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali, who also forwarded it to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for legal guidance.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has given the police two weeks to wrap up their investigation into the Kyari matter.
