A lady identified as the wife of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari slumped in front of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.
She dropped to the ground shortly after trial Justice Emeka Nwite deferred ruling on bail applications filed by DCP Kyari and six other people accused of narcotics trafficking with him.
While armed operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, were escorting Kyari and the others out from the court premises, the middle-aged woman, who was wearing a black Hijab, collapsed on the floor.
Despite the fact that she appeared lifeless on the floor, she was promptly taken up and rushed into one of the court’s offices on the third floor by NDLEA personnel and lawyers.
Even though one of the women who accompanied her to court mentioned that she was asthmatic, efforts were on to get an inhaler for her at the time of reporting this story, 11.07 a.m.
The NDLEA had asked the court on Monday to refuse Kyari and the other defendants bail.
It warned the court that if Kyari, who previously led the Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, was released from detention, he would flee the country and be unavailable for trial.
