Two Southern African countries are planning to submit bids for the 2027 African Cup of Nations, according to reports.

With the 2023 and 2025 editions already having host nations, Ayekooto can report that two Southern African countries are planning to submit bids for the 2027 edition.

The 33rd edition is now taking place in Cameroon, with 24 countries competing for the championship.

According to a source from Botswana, the country has already approached Namibia about submitting a joint bid for the 36th edition, which will take place in 2027.

On Wednesday afternoon, Namibia’s Minister of Sports, Audrin Mathe, confirmed Botswana’s interest.

Botswana and Namibia are planning a joint bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

“Yes, I can confirm that Botswana’s minister of sport has written to our minister,” he said. “However, it is still early days and no decision has been made yet.”

The 2023 edition will be held in Cote d’Ivoire, while the 2025 edition will be held in Guinea.
