Benue NNPP governor candidate Angwe resigns from the party.
By: Peace Adisa
Prof. Ben Angwe, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) candidate for governor of Benue State, has left the party.
In a letter to the NNPP Chairman in the state’s Mbatyu Ward, Gboko local government area, he officially announced his resignation from the party.
A few days before the NNPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled on August 29, Angwe—also the party’s former national legal adviser—resigned from the organization.
In his letter, he stated: “Taking notice of the fact that the current state of the party is not conducive or healthy for my prolonged stay in, and membership of the party.
As we work to create a strong and better Nigerian nation founded on the ideals of freedom, equality, and justice, we are “desirous of resuming my professional academic activities and my full involvement in the protection and enhancement of human rights in Nigeria.
“According to the NNPP Constitution 2022 (as amended), I withdrew my membership in the NNPP on this day in 2023 in accordance with the decision of the elders and stakeholders of the party in my immediate community in Benue and their additional advice that I should accordingly do so.
For the sake of clarity, I have informed the party’s chairman of the Mbatyu NNPP Ward Executive Committee that I am withdrawing my membership from the NNPP in in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
