The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta in a closed door discussion.

Both leaders engaged in an open dialogue.

During the duration of the meeting, dozens of APC supporters from the state invaded Obasanjo’s home and sang and danced in celebration of the candidate.

The three-hour meeting, which began at 1:09 PM, came to a close without either party communicating with press reporters about the outcome.

It was believed that Tinubu took advantage of the occasion to ask Obasanjo for backing in pursuing his presidential ambition.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, a former National Chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande, and a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, among others, accompanied the former governor of Lagos State to Obasanjo’s Penthouse at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Former governors Segun Osoba and Gbenga Daniel, as well as state governor Dapo Abiodun, welcomed him.

Former state deputy governors Gbenga Kaka and Salimot Badru, as well as other officials from the state government, were also present.

Obasanjo remained within when his guests left the meeting, but Tinubu came out of the Penthouse and into the hands of the mob, which included newsmen.

The presidential hopeful declined to give a press interview as he got into a waiting car to go to the MKO Abiola Stadium for another event.

Tinubu simply prayed for the attendees after being requested to address the Artisan Association of Nigeria, Ogun State branch, at the stadium.

Some chosen individuals were permitted to join Tinubu and Obasanjo for the second half of the meeting, according to the source, who declined to give his identity because he was not authorized to speak to journalists about the meeting’s results.

The source claimed that nearly all of the people that followed him were there at a pre-meeting.

Only five people reportedly joined the two leaders in the inner chamber for the second half of the meeting.

The two parties concurred that no one should make the meeting a media event, according to the source, who regarded the encounter as good.

According to the insider, “It was a really honest and challenging discussion from both sides.

“Obasanjo was direct as usual, and Asiwaju’s report was quite straightforward.”
