I have been trying to avoid writing on the trending issues of immoralities in the nation. This is not owing to lack of content but due to the fact that the concerned parties have turned deaf ears to tons of clarion calls regarding this. Write-ups upon write-ups, speeches upon speeches, documentaries upon documentaries have been made by so many visionaries that have seen these calamities coming. And if their calls could not solve the issues at hand, then we need to look for alternative solutions.
If the Government will not regulate or ban horrific shows like BBNaija despite our everyday call, then parents should individually wage war against those shows by not subscribing to them or scraping them from one’s visible channels.
Since social media has become a big fish swallowing today’s teens, it is deceit trying to chase them away from its usage, then let us opt for proper orientation regarding the media.
How many parents introduce their kids to social media? We usually do as if they won’t eventually be exposed to it. The ones who will expose them to it show them the negative parts of it. But if one, as a parent, does the introduction, that won’t only shield them from the danger but will also keep one abreast of challenges he or she might come across. This is because the child won’t see you as threat, but as a well wisher.
That is one out of so many things parents need to look into regarding their kids. Peers, dressings, values and so on, are also delicate issues parents must carefully intrude in, so as to produce better kids for better community.
And if a parent decides not to do these, individuals should not keep quiet. This is not the issue of “I don’t want her mother’s problem”. If going loggerheads with her mother, is the solution, then you should. This is because that child’s incorrupt act is a threat to the community in which you and your family lives in.
Summarily, lamenting and incessant comments are not any way closer to antidotes of our problems, rather individual swift actions will magically liberate us from these dangers.
