SWAN launches the “Pad a Girl Child” campaign.
By: Mary Owolabi
The Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) recently launched the ‘Pad a Girl Child’ campaign at Asaba Technical College in Delta State. This initiative, led by Chapter Chairperson Evelyn Onyemaechi Odeh, aimed to educate over 150 students about menstrual hygiene and its importance in preventing infections and body odor.
Dr. Jacdonmi Nkemdilim, a resident doctor specializing in aesthetics and gynecology at Asaba Specialist Hospital, encouraged the students to focus on their education and avoid engaging in sexual activities to achieve their academic goals.
The campaign also highlighted the benefits of being an ICAN member, which include opportunities for professional development and easier access to local and international job markets. Sanitary pads were distributed to more than 150 female students to support the initiative, motivating them to explore further and consider joining the association.
Miss Elijah Success Inyang, a second-year student at Asaba Technical College, expressed her gratitude for the project and committed to following the guidance provided.
