Two killed, Seven kidnapped in Ebonyi communal clashes.

Two people were slain and seven others were abducted in an attack on Ikachi Village in the Akparata area of Effium in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, according to the police. 

DSP Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi Police Command, confirmed the event and added that the assailants destroyed property worth millions of naira in the region on Sunday.

 He stated that the police have been working with other security authorities to restore order in the area and determine the reason for the most recent outbreak of communal conflicts. 

Since 2021, there have been violent fights between the Ezza and Effium populations.

“We know the attack, and the command controls the situation. 

 “We have been working with other security agencies to restore peace in the area. The command is also investigating the attack to determine the root cause,” Ukandu said. The police spokesman emphasized the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Ebonyi.
