According to regional governors, dozens of drones were fired over the course of the night, the great majority of which were shot down over the Ukrainian border districts of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh, causing some damage but no casualties.

One crashed into an oil refinery in the Ryazan region, some 200 kilometers (120 miles) southeast of Moscow, setting off a fire and injuring multiple people.

“A drone attacked the Ryazan oil refinery,” Ryazan regional governor Pavel Malkov posted on Telegram.

He wrote, “Preliminary information indicates that there are injuries.”

Following the strike, a fire broke out at the refinery, and according to Malkov, “all rescue services are working at the scene.”

Alexander Drozdenko, the regional governor, posted on Telegram that a drone that was aimed at a second oil refinery in the Leningrad region, close to Saint Petersburg, the second city in northwest Russia, was shot down. He added that there were no casualties or damage.

Over thirty drones were shot down over the Voronezh region; regional governor Alexander Gussev reported minor damage on Telegram.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram that six drones were shot down over the Belgorod region, hurting multiple electrical lines and resulting in power interruptions.

The governors of those regions posted on Telegram that eight drones were shot down over the Bryansk region and four were destroyed over the Kursk region, with no reports of damage.

In the two years of the conflict, Ukraine launched one of its biggest drone strikes against Russia on Tuesday.

According to Russian officials, the strikes damaged two Russian energy complexes, including one of the biggest oil refineries located around 800 kilometers from the border.

According to the regional governor, a drone struck a significant oil refinery in Kstovo, which is located just outside of Nizhny Novgorod, early on Tuesday morning.

The regional governor of Oryol, which is around 160 kilometers from the border, reported that another drone crashed into a gasoline store and caused a fire.
