By; Mary Owolabi

Shina Peller, a former House of Representatives member, and hundreds of Accord Party members from Oyo North Senatorial District, Oyo State, defected to the governing People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday. Peller was earlier welcomed by the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, at Ode-Oba, Iseyin. In 2019, he quit the party known as the All Progressives Congress (APC) to serve the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency.

Peller ascribed his choice to Makinde’s excellent leadership abilities. He praised Makinde’s innovative leadership and the excellent work he has done in the Oyo North Senatorial district. Peller said that hundreds of Accord Party members from 13 Local Governments in the Oyo North Senatorial District are joining the PDP, including Ward Chairmen, Local Government Chairmen, women leaders, and the Senatorial District Chairman.

Makinde urged other political parties to join the PDP to move the state forward and not regret joining. He urged PDP executives in local governments to cooperate with them and give them a chance to operate. Dignitaries present at the event included the PDP South-West Chairman, Olajide Adediran (Jandor), former Minister of Power and Steel, Wole Oyelese, Kunmi Mustafa, Abayomi Oyedeji, Saka Balogun, Nureni Akanbi, Senator Gbenga Babalola, Ahmed Gbadamosi, Gbadebo Adetoro, Ali Oyedeji, and the Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Federal Constituency Matters, Dare Adeleke.
