As a result, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Germany have all advised their citizens to leave the country immediately.

The US Embassy in Beirut issued a statement urging US citizens to make appropriate arrangements to leave the country, as commercial options are still available. The British embassy similarly warned its nationals to leave the country while commercial options remain available and to exercise caution.

Germany’s foreign ministry issued a warning to its people, urging them to “leave Lebanon,” saying that border skirmishes “can escalate further at any time.”

Additionally, it urged its citizens to “use existing commercial travel options to leave the country safely.”  After Hamas launched a huge attack on southern Israel on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of more than 1,400 people, largely civilians, Hezbollah and affiliated Palestinian organizations have been exchanging fire with Israel daily.

Since then, at least 3,700 people have died in Israeli attacks on Gaza, predominantly civilians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Australia, Canada, France, and Spain have all issued travel advisories against visiting Lebanon.

Reports state that at least 21 individuals, largely fighters but also three civilians, including a Reuters journalist, have died as a result of cross-border firing in Lebanon, while at least three people have died on the Israeli side.
