According to Globacom, it would keep making investments in cutting-edge technology to meet the demands of its clients.

As it announced that it would celebrate its 20th anniversary on Tuesday (today), it made this statement.

According to the telco, since it started operating in 2003, it has been committed to offering communications and digital services to its customers by continuously deploying the newest technologies, in keeping with its corporate promise to develop a reliable, fully integrated ICT network infrastructure that would consistently provide value to its esteemed customers.

The company declared in a statement, we will continue to serve as a catalyst for socio-economic advancement throughout Africa, not just in Nigeria. To surpass client expectations, we’ll keep making significant investments in new technology.

Glo stated that one of its accomplishments in the telecom industry was to bring down the price of SIM cards from roughly N25,000 to about N200.

The statement read; “the network also let down bookies by beginning operations on a per-second billing platform—a achievement that others had predicted would take another five years to accomplish”.

Blackberry, Multimedia Messaging Service, Magic Plus, Glo Direct, Glo Fonepals, Africhat, Glo Mobile Internet, GloFleetmanager, M-Banking, and Glo Mobile Office are just a few of the technologies Glo pioneered in Nigeria. Glo was the first to introduce 2.5G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks.

Additionally, it was responsible for building the Glo 1 international underwater cable, which connects West Africa to the rest of the world including the United Kingdom. It connects 12 countries, some of which are landlocked, in the West African subregion.

The company went on to say that the backing of millions of Nigerians was responsible for its success over the years. More than 61 million people are now subscribers, it noted.
