The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has stated those behind the Owo attacks have been arrested.

Forty worshipers were killed when some gunmen invaded St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

However, the Federal Government said that terrorists from the Islamic States of West Africa Province were responsible for the assault.

The Chief of Defence Staff announced the capture of the Owo assailants during a meeting with editors and media executives on Tuesday in Abuja.

Irabor stated that the suspects would be paraded following the conclusion of the probe.

“Since our last meeting, we have accomplished a fantastic feat,” he added. Let me draw your attention to the fact that during the same time period, depraved individuals committed ignoble acts that had an impact on our community’s safety, including the regrettable train attack, the attack on the Kuje Correctional Center, and what has reportedly been the attack on the presidential convoy.

“Also, the Owo incident, which was meant to gather military personnel and show them in a way that would make it appear as though the country is under assault. In Owo, we have detained individuals responsible for the heinous act.

“I had planned to show them to the public, but I had to reconsider because the inquiry is still ongoing. I’d like to stress that they and others who are responsible for such daring attacks in the nation will eventually be exposed to the world.
