Antonio Rudiger is edging closer to Real Madrid. All the developments of the past weeks indicate that the German defender is very close to signing for Los Blancos.
Despite the complicated socio-political situation in which Chelsea finds themselves, the club have tried to tempt the central defender to sign on, but that now looks out of the question.
Following the latest talks with Rudiger, Chelsea has already accepted his departure to Real Madrid. They have tried everything, but they have not been able to prevent one of their best players from joining a team that has been a direct rival in the last two seasons in Europe.
What’s more, Rudiger was the protagonist in the two quarter-final matches played both in London and Madrid. In the first one, for not being able to prevent the third goal after Edouard Mendy’s mistake and in the Bernabeu for his good display, including a goal.
The German defender looks set to join a long list of players who have played for both Chelsea and Madrid, from Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard more recently, to the likes of Marcos Alonso, Alvaro Morata, Riccardo Carvalho, Arjen Robben, Michael Essien and Claude Makelele.
