Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin, the owner of the Hilton Hotel in Osogbo, and six of his employees have a case to answer over the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Justice Oyebola Ojo of the Osun State High Court in Osogbo stated.
At the last sitting, counsel for the defendants, led by Mallam Yusuf Alli, SAN, told the court that his clients do not have a case to answer because the prosecution failed to prove any case against them, which the prosecutor, M O Omosun, challenged.
While dismissing the No Case Submission on Wednesday, Justice Ojo stated that all of the accused had a prima facie case against them.
According to her: “Evidence before the court states that Timothy lodged in the hotel owned by Adedoyin. Adesola who is the 7th defendant, the receptionist received the lodger.”
The court also found that the deceased’s wife spoke to him while he was at the facility, but that she was unable to contact him afterward.
Following that, Justice Ojo summoned the defendants to present their case.
K. Eleja stated that, in light of the verdict, the defense would present their case, but requested time to prepare.
The case was rescheduled for opening of defense on April 25, 2022.
