Saudi Arabia is one of the locations ‘under discussion’ for Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch with Anthony Joshua.
Unified world champion Usyk has confirmed he will start preparations for a second fight against Joshua, with the Ukrainian’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk targeting a date in June.
After reclaiming his WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles in a rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr in Diriyah in December 2019, Joshua could potentially return to Saudi Arabia.
“This place is now being discussed,” Krassyuk stated.
“At the moment, we’re thinking about late June.”
“A lot will hinge on how quickly we can ink the papers.”
“The good news is that Usyk is already in Europe, getting ready to compete.”
Last September, Usyk won a unanimous decision over Joshua to become a two-weight world champion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 35-year-old had returned to his homeland to assist in the defense against the Russian invasion, but he announced last week that he planned to fight Joshua again.
“That’s how I’ll be able to serve my nation more, and it’s better than being in territorial defense and racing about Kyiv with a machine gun,” Usyk wrote in a social media statement.
