Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has returned to training ahead of the trip to Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday despite limping off with a foot injury during their weekend win at Brighton & Hove Albion, manager Jurgen Klopp said.
Salah was replaced minutes after scoring the game’s second goal with a penalty kick in the second half of the 2-0 triumph.
Salah’s foot was swollen after the match, but Klopp says he was promised he would be back in team training soon.
“Mo is a tough nut to crack. We were ecstatic and fortunate. “It was bloated and painful yesterday, but today it’s less so,” Klopp said at a press conference on Tuesday. “He’s ready to train,” I received a message before the press briefing. “Let’s see how that goes.”
After Pep Guardiola’s side was held to a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Monday, Liverpool sits second in the table and can trim Manchester City’s lead at the top to a point if they beat fourth-placed Arsenal.
“Believe it or not, I watched City for exactly 65 minutes for analysis purposes. Klopp stated, “I don’t have time to watch them in real time.” “Palace played well, but City played well as well; they just didn’t finish situations off.”
“I didn’t watch for the last 30 minutes, but I was astonished when I saw the outcome.
“Is it beneficial to one’s mood? What makes you think that? We’re playing Arsenal, and we can’t afford to lose any points to them right now… This is a game that we must play.”
The German backed his club to challenge City in the title fight all the way. On April 10, the two sides meet in a potential title decider at City’s Etihad Stadium.
“Of course, that’s the plan,” Klopp added, “to keep being as unpleasant as possible.”
“We have ten games to play, including a few that are quite difficult. Every Premier League game is difficult, but there are a few that are particularly difficult, one of which we will face tomorrow night.
“Will we be able to win all ten games? It doesn’t seem likely, but we’ll give it a shot as long as it’s possible.”
