Chief Akin Muheedeen, the Baale of Olowe Gbagura in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, was reportedly burned to death by some unidentified hoodlums.
This comes just a month after Ayekooto exclusively revealed that Olu of Agodo had been pursued and burned to death by hoodlums who have yet to be apprehended.
When fire was detected within the community head’s compound, Ayekooto learns that he had gone out to observe the Islamic morning prayer (Subhi).
According to family reports, the man was assassinated by unknown individuals who shattered a window to get access to the location where he was killed.
They suspected the assailants of setting the man on fire after he was killed.
It was learned that the deceased had a land-related case pending at the time of his death.
It was also revealed that he was recently arrested and arraigned for his suspected involvement in a land dispute with several individuals.
Before his death on Monday, the village chief, who was scheduled to appear in court on March 15, was said to have begun working out an amicable solution to the problem.
While corroborating the occurrence, one of his wives, Silifat, said she was coming from the mosque around 6 a.m. when she spotted smoke rising from their compound.
“I screamed when I saw the flames since I had no idea what was going on.” I dashed down the stairs, only to discover that my husband was missing.
“I screamed when I saw the flames since I had no idea what was going on.” I dashed down the stairs to see my husband on fire and already dead. We later discovered that a window in the back of the house had been shattered. “We had no idea who killed him,” Silifat explained.
Iyabode, his second wife, claimed she slept in the same room as her husband and that he left the room at daybreak to urinate and pray as was customary.
“He used to go out around 6 a.m. to urinate and prepare for prayer every morning.” ‘Fire, fire,’ my senior wife exclaimed after about 15 minutes. I dashed outside to discover that Baale had caught fire. He didn’t light a fire or use matches. “We have no idea who did that,” Iyabode added.
While criticising the act, Chief Kazeem Dauda, Seriki of Olowe, said that there was a dispute between the Baale and some individuals.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police, did not pick up our call at the time of filing this storey.
