On Monday, an activist for the Yoruba Nation, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igbooho, was released from the Benin Republic Prison.

Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, a Yoruba self-determination organisation, confirmed this.

According to the organisation, the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator was released to Akintoye, a Yoruba leader and leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, and Professor Wale Adeniran, a French Language Expert/Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide.

After being caught with Ropo, his wife, at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou in July 2021 while attempting to fly to Germany, Igboho had been incarcerated in a jail facility in the Republic of Benin.

In Yoruba Land, Akintoye portrayed the release of Ighoho as a Triumph of Truth over Darkness.
