English Premier League side Leicester City has announced that Wesley Fofana has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2027.
Fofana has not played this season after suffering a serious injury in pre-season, but he established himself as one of Europe’s greatest young defenders last season, making 28 Premier League matches as his side finished fifth for the second year in a row.
This season, his absence has been particularly felt, with the Foxes conceding goals and currently sitting in the bottom half of the table.
He had lately been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea, so the news of his extension is a significant boost for the club.
“I’m overjoyed to have signed a new deal.” It demonstrates the Club’s faith in me by extending my contract until 2027. I’m overjoyed to be here. “I’m incredibly thrilled and looking forward to being back playing since it’s my Club and I adore the fans,” Fofana told LCFC TV.
“Everything about the Club appeals to me. I adore the city and the supporters. It’s my family that I cherish the most. Everyone is friendly and gets along.
“We have a terrific team as well, and we’re continuing to improve to win more trophies.” As a result, I’ve pledged my future to the Club until 2027. I’d like to accomplish more with the Club. There is a lot of talent here and still a lot more we can do together.”
