Seven of eight aspirants of Ekiti governorship primary election of All Progressives Congress (APC) have called for the suspension of the shadow poll , just some hours to the commencement of the exercise.

On Thursday, the seven hopefuls and their supporters stormed the party’s secretariat in Ado-Ekiti,  the state capital of Ekiti, to protest alleged irregularities.

The aspirants include Senators Opeyemi Bamidele, Dayo Adeyeye, Femi Bamisile, Bamidele Faparusi, Olusola Afolabi, Demola Popoola and Kayode Ojo.

They alleged that the State Government officials had hijacked the process of the governorship primaries, adding that the local government electoral committees were core loyalists of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The governorship primary panel led by the Jigawa Governor, Abubakar Badaru was accused of compromise, citing that the electoral process had been manipulated in favour of Governor Fayemi’s preferred aspirant, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji.
