Every public servant who someday, someway gets a job with the government must understand that they did not get the job because they were the best among all, but rather because they were entrusted to them through the means of grace or a process of qualification. Everybody that is employed in the public service must understand that it is important for them to choose between being civil servants or evil servants. This is a choice that counts for or against every public servant while they are in office and after they leave office. They should continuously think about what their life will be like when they are either sacked, retired, or retrenched. These are things that are very important for every public savant to take note of when taking a public service job. Always think of the exit at the entrance. The days are numbered; do more good than evil on the job.

The public service is not meant to be some sort of support or point of the cheap job offer; it is meant to be an opportunity and avenue for us, or every privileged person, to take seriously as an opportunity to solve real-time problems in their various departments, ministries, agencies, or places where they are posted. They need to know that they are there in the interest of the people, and they are being paid every day by the odd ends of taxpayers who are working day in and day out in their private businesses and lives. They must realise that they are not in the service to serve themselves alone but should be selfless in serving the cause of humanity and the public at large.

A civil servant is different from an evil servant. A civil servant’s role is to serve the people with diligence, determination, and growth for the people and nation at all times. A civil servant is someone who sees doing the right thing without nepotism, favouritism, or bribery is something they should value all through their year of service or even after service. A civil servant serves with Godfearingness, patriotism, and diligence, unlike an evil servant.

We’ve all met people who are more like evil servants than civil servants, one way or the other. They’re everywhere in our community; we recognise the traits and attributes of these people. Let’s endeavour to always admonish them all the time. An evil servant as a perpetrator makes it easier for our leaders to be corrupt, and an evil servant will devastate our country ten times more than a bad politician. Let’s sanitise the civil service and our nation will be better.
