The trial of Wales manager Ryan Giggs has been postponed until August 8 due to a lack of courtroom space.
Mr Giggs, 48, was set to face charges of coercion and assault against his ex-girlfriend and her sister before Manchester Crown Court on Monday.
A hearing was told, however, that there was no space available in the facility.
Chris Daw, QC, Mr Giggs’ counsel, said his client was “very unhappy” by the development.
The new date was agreed upon by all parties, and the trial will take at least five days.

Between August 2017 and November 2020, Mr Giggs pleaded not guilty to controlling and coercive behavior against his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville.
On November 1, 2020, the former Manchester United footballer pleaded not guilty to attacking Ms Greville, causing her actual bodily harm, and assaulting her younger sister, Emma Greville, at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester.
Judge Hilary Manley stated on Tuesday: “Regrettably, it has become necessary to remove this trial from the schedule.
“This is due to the fact that there isn’t a court accessible to hold this trial.
“This is a problem that the criminal courts face on a daily basis due to the massive backlog of court cases, which has been compounded by the epidemic and the necessity for social isolation.”
Mr. Giggs, who is on leave from his role as Wales manager, is one of the most decorated players in British football after a 24-year career at Old Trafford.
