Tottenham players are concerned that manager Antonio Conte will walk away from the club in February if he doesn’t get any backing in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Nuno Espirito Santo was ousted earlier this season after a bad run of results at the north London club, and the Italian was brought in to replace him.

Spurs have won eight of their 14 games in all competitions under Conte, with some supporters and pundits predicting that they would finish in the top four.

Chelsea breezed through to the Carabao Cup final 3-0 on aggregate, knocking out Conte’s team on Wednesday night.

Despite not having any “expectations” that Spurs must sign players, the Tottenham manager said that he was eager to “address numerous problems” in the transfer market.

According to Ayekooto, Tottenham players are concerned that Conte “may depart next month if he is not backed with new arrivals in the January transfer window.”

Conte “will be loathed to leave mid-season,” according to the source, “but the fact that the notion is even being discussed in the dressing room hints to troubles behind the scenes.”

Conte has ‘immediately identified the situations he needs to fix,’ and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy must ‘move quickly to appease the volatile Conte.’

Conte has disclosed that he has met with the club’s board to discuss prospective January signings, but he says that he will continue to strive to get the best out of the players he has.

“I had a conversation with the club. My thoughts on the situation are as follows. Conte told reporters that the club must pick the best course of action.

“I have no expectations.” I’m the coach, and I’m well aware that we have a lot of issues to address.

“At this time, the best way for me is to attempt to get the most out of my guys.” This is the only way I can make a difference in the situation and with the group.”

“We discussed the subject, and it was a good meeting.” The owner and [Fabio] Paratici started working together at the beginning of the season, and I arrived in the middle. They certainly have a greater understanding of the situation than I do.

“It was a fantastic meeting to speak with them and share my ideas on my two months at Tottenham.” I am willing to put in a lot of effort for the team. Then it’s up to the club to make the decision, not me. The club always gets the last word.”
