Even though it is understood that a country like Iceland and Vatican City, amongst others, have no structured force, they are still safe zones. They have entrusted their safety to God and maintain positive relationships with their neighbours, and they place a high value on godliness and synergy. As much as they have no security, they are on guard.

My own country is a nation without guards too. Despite our numerous lists of forces, both military and paramilitary, we have got no guards because it would be impossible to guarantee the safety of our people with all the lists of security architecture, as they are designed to protect the privileged against the less and not-privileged rather than protect all citizens from identified criminals. As a nation governed by an experienced chief guard, it is expected to enjoy maximum security from threats, and as a nation full of many spiritual leaders, it is expected to be free of sins and illegality. Yet, we remain a nation without guards.

“We are in between incapable leaders and ignorant followers, among whom we have a few incapacitated intellectuals.” -Olajide B.O.Y.

SPIRITUAL GUARDS

There is no spiritual guard because we lack people who can sincerely intercede for our nation’s growth and development. Instead, prosperity preachers and spiritual entrepreneurs are dominant forces in the spiritual circle, those who see God as a business opportunity, using worship centres as their office, worshipers as commodities to profit from, and the Bible as a code of conduct to perfect their ill preaching for their gain. Our spiritual guards are not docile; rather, they are on a venture without value.

NATION GUARDS

It’s quite unfortunate that our spiritual guards have ventured without values, but it is a disaster that our nation’s guards are like a blind men in a wonderland. They have the yam, the knife, and the fitness to pill, but they don’t know how to do it. We have been managed as a nation by people who see the country as their birthright. They have seen the majority as a minority and have adopted themselves as the major concern. The only security that matters to them is their own lives, the lives of their families, and good friends. They erected no guard for the sake of the nation, only for themselves.

CITIZEN GUARDS

Like the nation’s guards, like the citizen guards, our cities are on fire, our supposed guards are fleeing, and our leaders are flexing. It is sad, right? Yet, the hazards are framed by ourselves ourselves self- We have lost who we are to become who we want to be, and we have refused to accept that the world has evolved from our stale practices. The citizen guards will rather oppress the common man in his regalia of force uniform rather than protect his/her people.

Finally, we are a nation with a guard because we value no citizen’s life. We, as a nation, are not accountable for and to each other. As long as we are safe as individuals, we care little about the homeless, hopeless, and helpless. Our supposed guards are gauding their interest in prosperity while the employed guards are on the hunt for survival rather than saving their own country.
