Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out for at least four weeks after straining ligaments in his knee, meaning he will miss both legs of Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League quarter final tie against Paris-Saint Germain.
The best striker in the world picked up the injury while on international duty with Poland.
After scoring two of his side’s goals in a 3-0 win over Andorra, he was forced off on the hour mark following a collision.
He flew back to Germany prematurely after the game, meaning he will miss Poland’s final World Cup qualifying game of the international break against England.
Scans taken by Bayern’s medical team have since revealed that Lewandowski will also miss DievRoten’s upcoming European clash against PSG .
Bayern announced the news via a statement on their website, which read: “Robert Lewandowski has strained a ligament in his right knee. The Bayern striker will be out for around four weeks.
After Poland’s 3-0 win over Andorra, Lewandowski returned early to Munich, where a diagnosis was made by the German record champions’ medical team.”
The news comes as a big blow to Bayern’s chances of retaining the Champions League trophy.
Lewandowski has been in superhuman form over the past few years and it has been no different this season.
The Pole has already scored 42 goals in 36 games this term and last season he managed a staggering 55 in 47 appearances.
